Oldham Refugee Network Presents Refugee Week 2023

Oldham Refugee Network are delighted to present this programme of events that are taking place across the borough between 19 - 24 June 2023.

This year’s theme is compassion and the offers of participation that we’ve had from groups across the borough are a testament to that value.

Arts Council England - Capital Investment Programme

Aims/priorities:

The purpose of this open access programme is to support cultural organisations to adjust buildings and equipment so that they can operate safely post-pandemic and improve access, seize on technological opportunities, and reduce environmental impact.

The longer-term impacts Arts Council England expects to see from this programme are:

Active Travel Community Access Grants

Aims/priorities:

The grant will help local businesses and organisations to get more people walking, cycling and wheeling, reduce lorry and van travel in urban areas and help support Greater Manchester’s ambitions for improved air quality.

What can you bid for?

There is funding available for three measures:

1. Cargo cycle solutions - Grants up to £10,000

Barnardos BOLOH: Providing mental health and wellbeing support for asylum seekers in the UK

Barnardos BOLOH work with Asylum Seekers UK – wide by supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

How they can help:

  • Provide free counselling
  • Helpline advisors to listen and provide emotional support
  • Specialist advice on a range of issues 
  • Support in accessing support from other organisations
  • Provide practical support to meet diverse needs e.g. food, devices and other items

Greater Manchester – Breathe Better Air Community Fund

Aims/priorities:

The Breathe Better Air Community Fund is provided by a partnership between UK Community Foundation and the Clean Air Fund (CAF) and is administered by Forever Manchester.

This fund aims to support the clean air movement by supporting projects that raise public awareness and, projects that promote better air quality in communities through education, research, and practical activities and enabling them to become effective community air quality campaigners.

Who can apply?

Bupa Foundation Green Community Grants

Aims/priorities: The funding is intended for registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, schools, local authorities and social housing providers for practical projects which help with both people and planet health.

Priority will be given to the regeneration of green spaces for community use, however other examples include:

National Lottery Grants for Heritage

Aims/priorities: The funding will continue to support a broad range of heritage projects and activities, such as industrial sites, castles and historic places of worship, to the stories and memories of communities, and through to public parks, natural landscapes and native wildlife.
