Systems Change

What is Systems Change?

Systems Change refers to the process of fundamentally altering the structures, policies, and practices within a system to achieve long-term, sustainable improvements. This approach is often used to address complex social, economic, or environmental issues. Some key elements of Systems Change are:

  1. Holistic Approach: Systems change looks at the entire system rather than isolated parts, understanding how different components interact and influence each other.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: It involves engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including those directly affected by the system, to ensure diverse perspectives and engagement.
  3. Policy and Practice Shifts: Changes in policies, regulations, and everyday practices are crucial to support and sustain the transformation.
  4. Cultural Change: Shifting mindsets, values, and behaviours within the system is essential for lasting change.
  5. Innovation and Adaptation: Encouraging innovation and being adaptable to new information and changing circumstances are key to successful systems change.
  6. Measurement and Evaluation: Continuous monitoring and evaluation help to track progress, learn from experiences, and make necessary adjustments.

To create Systems Change, we facilitate a number of partnership and collaboration networks based around particular themes in Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside.
