Working Together to Safeguard Children Training

Course presenter: Catherine Lawler, Wendy Yuille and Members of the LSCB Training Pool

Aim

To place child protection in the wider context of support to children and families and to emphasise the importance of collaborative working practices.



Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • Recognise and respond to concerns about a child in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of the child.
  • Outline the core tasks in safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
  • Implement the principles and processes, which underpin effective communication and collaborative working practices.
  • Have a clear understanding of the roles played by different agencies in safeguarding children.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining focus on the child



Target Audience

Those whose professional practice involves them in:

Liaising with other agencies when concerns about a child’s welfare have been raised.

Contributing to a child protection case conference or core group meetings.

Note prior foundation training is essential
