We are looking for volunteers to take on the role of mentor to local adults - building positive relationships and empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve positive goals. Goals often (but not restricted to) social connection, managing practical life skills, and healthy relationships. Full training and support will be given. No previous mentor experience necessary but life experience is valuable.
Key information
- Start Date: 23rd January 2024
- End Date: 23rd January 2026
- Volunteer: Weekly, Fortnightly
- Tasks: You will be matched with a suitable mentee, in terms of your skills and life experience. After being introduced, you will meet regularly (usually weekly or fortnightly) to get to know each other, set some goals, and work alongside the mentee to achieve these.
- Training: Initial 2 day training course about the role of mentor and how the Navigate project works.
Following this training will be provided on relevant subjects within the mentor team - including mental health awareness, addiction, safeguarding etc.. - Interests: Addiction, Community, Domestic violence, Ex-offenders, Faith, Health and wellbeing, Mental Health, Older people, Poverty, Social Welfare
- Activities: Befriending, Coaching, Escorting, Mentoring, Providing advice
