Tameside Community Recovery Fund is a Participatory Budgeting event where local communities can have a say and vote for their favourite community project.
TMBC Community Safety are leading on this with assistance from Action Together supported by partner organisations. Greater Manchester Combined Authorities (GMCA) are funding £40,000 across Tameside communities - £10,000 has been allocated for each neighbourhood area: North, East, South and West. The idea being that after the effects of Covid 19, communities can rebuild and recover and come together to develop greener, safer, stronger communities. It’s about recognising that everyone has something to give without exception and by giving people the tools to use their skills, great things can happen for them and for the community.
Ambitions | Ambitions provide social activates such as; disco’s, outings, physical activities and a social club to young adults with leaning and physical disabilities. Their aim is to listen to their members and whenever possible put their requests into actions. Ambitions activities are there to build our members with confidence, encourage them to make new friends, promote independence and because our discos are held in public places, integrate them fully into the wider society. |
Lindley Educational Trust | Walks for Health This group will provide healthy and engaging activities : walks and sporting activities for children each Saturday.These are run by local people who we have trained up. They will also run some local family walks / picnics to encourage families to get out and enjoy the fresh air and the local countryside. As part of the project they will also run a fun day that will bring everyone together including the wider community. |
West African Development (WAD) | This group will be working with BAME young people that have suffered from isolation which has impacted our young people’s health. They want to work with young people in Ashton-under-Lyne from BAME communities get back to building up their confidence and get physically active through various keep fit activities. |
St Gabriel’s Community Group | St Gabriel’s Community Garden This group will develop the outside area into a community garden to be proud of; one that is beautiful, calming, productive, therapeutic and beneficial to all. The community will be involved in the creation of the garden and will then be able to use and enjoy it once it is complete. |
Khush Amdid | This group will have 2 sessional workers and the support of volunteers to deliver the project. This will involve having 2 workshops one to educate the members on food labelling and to understand the colours, look at various food products, select those that are healthy etc. |
Friends of Sunnybank Vale | The project aims to ensure that the footpaths as part of the Duck Trail are suitable and in a good condition to be safely used by children and their families irrespective of their physical abilities. It will also make it more suitable for wheelchair users and others with disabilities. |
Tameside Arts Ltd | Creating inter-generational links through IT. This group will organise a month-long IT development programme whereby we make provision for activities and workshops to be delivered by younger people for older members of neighbouring communities. |
St Martins Church | Droylsden Community & Safe Garden The project aim is to make the green safe space for all the community to use. The project will also improve the green areas around the church while also making the outside of the church a safer environment for people accessing the building. |
New Life Church | This project will address issues currently faced by local adults due to mental health, addiction, homelessness, learning difficulties and poverty. Through these projects we aim to engage people that are hardest to reach; those whose obstacles and challenges mean they are currently struggle to engage with more formal community learning and support opportunities. |
Denton Park Social Bowling Club | Denton Bowling Petanque Project aka French Boules Project To facilitate a new sporting activity that will bring together the wider community and appeal new members of the community, individuals, families, local schools and colleges. |
Assheton Avenue Residents’ Association | This grant will be used to replace our communal greenhouse which was destroyed by Storm Eunice in February 2022. The greenhouse acted as a social-hub connecting residents across age ranges, physical/mental capabilities and backgrounds. Growing and nurturing plants promoted discussion, respect, knowledge exchange, mutual encouragement, pride and built self-esteem. It was a facility anybody could use and it was well used. |
Magical Memories | Jubilee Tea Party & Wellbeing Classes Magical Memories will be planning an afternoon tea party in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022. They as a group haven't celebrated together properly since the pandemic and this is a perfect opportunity to come together as a community again. Their goal is to also help the vulnerable or homeless with food parcels. |
Friends of Waterloo Park | This group will provide regular meals and social activities for the over 50’s. |
St Peter Community Gathering | This group will be holding a Family fun day to bring the whole community together, young and old, encouraging involvement and friendships. They will provide food, refreshments, bouncy castle, games and a face painter for the children (or adults)! |
St Mary’s Church, Droylsden | This group will use the grant over 3 main areas all aimed at re-connecting with our community and helping to alleviate isolation and loneliness across the generations. |
Denton Autism ADHD Family Support (D.A.A.F.S.) | D.A.A.F.S Denton Autism ADHD Family Support The Parents and children living with Autism, ADHD and S.E.N. Alongside Local ex Service Veterans Living with Injuries, PTSD and various Mental Health Issues. These are a group of people living within Denton and the Local Community that are isolated and feel detached from the community who remain within their own safe space in their family Homes. This group are offering 2 sites of local safe spaces to support and increase their wellbeing, a coffee morning and the Defence Garden Scheme. They aim to promote Autism/ADHD awareness and acceptance within the local community. |
Friends of Victoria Park | Party in the Park To bring back a confidence of the community to come together and enjoy a event of music Talent Competition, fairground rides, Stalls to promote Tameside recognised community groups and organisation . |
Richmond Park Neighbourhood Watch & Community Group | Richmond Park In Bloom 2022 & Richmond Park Defibrillator Purchase. In 2022 this group will extend and refresh the public gardening areas that they created in 2021 and following the death of a local resident last year from cardiac arrest we also want to purchase a defibrillator and first aid training for use by local residents and visitors. |
Stalybridge Town Team | This group will continue to keep them well stocked with seasonal bulbs and flowers. As the Greater Manchester Town of Art & Culture for 2022 they want to create a clean, bright, attractive town centre to present to visitors |
Holy Trinity and Christ Church | Trinity Tots Developing a sensory garden for children and adults. |
Dukinfield Brass Band | Christmas Light switch on 2022. |
Luncheon Club-Victoria Park | The funding will help this group increase the number of people taking part in the session by funding extra equipment (pots, pans, plates, knifes & forks ects) and therefore enable us to be able to provide people a hot meal. The club will also provide people with the opportunity to mix with others but also build their reassurance and help to improve their mental health and well-being. After the Pandemic, isolation has been difficult, we aim to help with their anxiety issues and build up confidence. |
Springs Botanical Garden | Brighten up Ambleside Plant flowers to brighten up the fence panels outside the Baptist Church/ Community Garden, to make it a conversation piece within the community and get more residents involved with in the garden. |
Stalybridge Coderdojo | The grant money will be used to purchase computing equipment and purchase monthly internet usage for their meetings to facilitate the projects selected by their young people. Coder Dojo is free to access and inclusive of males and females and does not deter families on low incomes from attending. |
The Together Centre | The Together Centre would like to bring Young Children and local Isolated Elderly Residents aged 60+ Together by participating in a new and exciting outdoor Intergenerational ‘Grow your own Fruit and Vegetables’ Program called Fuel for the Future. |
Stalybridge Neighbourhood Watch | This group are going to purchase a second Defibrillator as the one they have is too far away for half the estate to use. |
Wild Flower Community Garden | This group will be using the funds to but wooden planters and benches for the local community in Dukinfield. |
GX Brabyns Neighbourhood Group | GX Brabyns is a group of local residents whose aim is to bring the community together to create a more friendly, active and secure community who can work together with local residents and organisations to enhance the safety, awareness and harmony of the environment in which they live. |
Hyde Mela Trust | The Community event aims to promote community cohesion by providing an opportunity for residents to experience a range of cultural provision from Hyde’s local artists and performers, for Hyde’s small businesses to reach new customers, for Hyde’s community groups to advertise their activities and to bring the communities of Hyde together. |
LEAP – St Peters Partnerships | This group will be creating an encompassing outdoor space as a sanctuary for our participants, friends, and neighbours to come together for a cup of tea and a chat. The aim is to learn coping strategies and improve general health by practicing wellbeing exercises so we can all make a difference and thrive. |
Hattersley Big Community Garden | This group will be creating a sustainable classroom and café. They will be using the funds to buy table chairs / Kitchen appliances etc. |
Hope Community Church | CAP Life Skills To help people live well on a low income. The course covers Money; Organisation; Health and wellbeing and Relationships. The course is designed to give practical skills, be part of a fun/relaxed community that can learn from one another. We will also offer 1-2-1 coaching and access/signposting to other community based activities as appropriate. |
Groundwork GM | Go Green. This project equips local residents with the skills and knowledge to make Hattersley greener by encouraging them to co-design their community spaces to become places that bring people together, connect them with their environment and nature, learn to grow and bounce back after the pandemic by taking part in activities outdoors where they will enjoy the benefits to their health and wellbeing. Residents are already invested in the areas and have taken part in clearing the spaces. We will also offer ‘pop up and grow’ sessions to encourage people to grow their own, whilst using the spaces. |
Ark of Hope | Connecting cultures aim to teach members of the catchment communities how to play African drums and showcase some African traditional artefacts for their knowledge. |

Academy HQ | An activity day that enables people to join in taster sessions of mindfulness health & wellbeing, fun activities encouraging family participation whilst promoting footprint in the area by putting a face to business owners to help overcome boundaries of stepping over the threshold of local shop owner’s and enterprise schemes. |
Carrbrook Residents Hub | Community Outreach Program This group are trying to include the community in Activities using the community garden teaching our residents to grow vegetables creating new raised beds which will be made by our team. They also want to organise monthly litter picks where children and adults work together in an intergenerational work. They will also teach residents to bake using home grown vegetables and eat healthier to create self-well-being and help with future volunteering |
Community Cutz CIC | Droylsden Community & Safe Garden To increase the amount of people across Droylsden engaging in our services including bespoke feel good and health & wellbeing sessions. |
FiT Over Fifty | Those Were The Days This group want to support people to engage in social interaction, whereby supporting isolation and loneliness by looking at their past life, thus sharing memories and experiences , things they had or have in common and help make new friends/ contacts |
St. Mary’s Church Hollingworth | Eden + This group aim to be of service to the local community by offering facilities and providing social and group activities. They run an after-school youth club, ‘The Eden Club’ for 12-16 year olds. Members have expressed a wish to continue to associate as a group after they leave Longdendale High School. They would like to facilitate this by hosting a club for college level students, maintaining the level of friendship and support that they currently share. They shall encourage club members to find safe, positive ways to enjoy themselves while developing concern for the welfare of others and the environment and being of benefit to the wider community. |
POP Hyde CIC | Community Cultural Cohesion This group are Working in conjunction with local representatives of the Bangladeshi Community to organise a project that will bring together the local communities for a cultural diverse event. The project is aimed at drawing together all members of the local community for a shared cultural experience including food and music |
Community Matters | Theatre This group will use the funds to bring theatre to the children of the area that do not have ready access to these experiences, to celebrate the diversity of our community and to bring people together to share the experience of live performance. |
