Tameside Community Explorers Relaunch

Posted: 2 November 2022

We are relaunching our Community Explorer network across neighbourhoods in Tameside as a way for small and grassroot organisations to connect, share information and provide peer support.

Throughout the pandemic, and right now during the cost-of-living crisis we see examples of communities working together daily, responding to local need. The Community Explorer events have been on hold since the pandemic but now we are able to meet in person, we want to create a regular space for groups to network and strengthen relationships at a neighbourhood level. Our team of Community Development workers will be on hand at these meetings to provide support with funding, finding volunteers and developing ideas.

The purpose of these events is to enable voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector groups and organisations within local communities to come together to:

  • share information,
  • make ‘asks and offers’
  • develop new ideas and connections
  • find out what else is happening in your area
  • meet those in the know and get support from Action Together

By using your knowledge, skills, networks, and connections of assets in the community, VCFSE organisations are then better able to raise awareness of the on-going experiences and issues that affect local people. It is also an opportunity to develop collaboration between VCFSE and public sector organisations.
