Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund

Aims/priorities: The fund aims to support projects which prevent, reuse, or recycle household waste, and also reduce contamination, promote sustainable use of waste and resources, and generate wider social benefits for the communities of Greater Manchester.

Who can apply? Applications are welcome from Community and Voluntary Sector organisations, including:

  • Registered charities.
  • Not-for-profit organisations.
  • Community, neighbourhood or voluntary groups.
  • Faith groups delivering community work.
  • Schools, colleges or universities.

Applicants must provide:

  • A recent bank statement, dated within the last three months, showing the organisation's name, address, bank account number and sort code.
  • Financial accounts for the previous financial year.
  • A copy of their constitution – if applicable
  • Their project milestones.
  • Their project budget
  • An image to represent the project.

Organisations must be based in one or more of the following nine Greater Manchester council areas; Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, and Trafford (excluding Wigan).

Grant amount: A total of £220,000 is available in 2023, split into two awards:

  • Council level awards: - a total of £180,000 is available for projects based in one district area only (i.e. Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford). Up to £10,000 is available per project.
  • Greater Manchester level awards - a total of £40,000 is available for innovative City Region wide projects (i.e. projects working across all nine Districts of the GMCA area), awards will be for a maximum of £20,000 per project.
