As part of expanding our Moss Side Learning Hub, MYL is recruiting for a Vocational Skills Tutor to work on the Post 16 programme with young people 16 - 25 with SEND, providing informal education, pastoral support and enrichment activities. You will work alongside Youth Engagement Workers to motivate and inspire learners to achieve recognised vocational qualifications (EG play and youth work, digital, social care, construction, retail), preparing and delivering high quality flexible lessons that meets young people’s special educational needs.

This is a 28 hour part-time role (including 9.30am – 3.30pm Tuesday and Friday) but we are happy to consider additional flexible working arrangements for the right candidate. Successful candidates can choose whether to have a term time only contract (+ 5 training days) with a pro-rata salary, OR a year-round contract with annual leave entitlement and a requirement to support holiday playschemes.

Place in organisation 

To work within our Learning Hubs team who provide structured and informal education, personal development and employability programmes to young people with additional learning needs.

Main purpose of the job     

To motivate and inspire learners to progress on programme. To engage and support young people aged 16 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who are enrolled in a Learning Hub.  The role will lead a programme of tailored learning to enable young people to gain accredited qualifications up to L2.

To plan, prepare and deliver a range of high-quality lessons and enrichment activities designed to support learners into employment, further education, training and to develop broader life skills.  The role will also involve undertaking reviews, assessment and verification as required by awarding body standards and funders.
