Job: Walking Leader

We are looking to recruit a Walking Leader, who will establish a ‘Caritas Ramblers’ group which will be based out of our day centres and supported accommodation projects. This is an exciting new project which aims to enable people who use our services, who may also be homeless or at risk of homelessness to take part in regular walks in local parks.

The Walking Leader will plan the walks and advertise these encouraging people that use the service to participate. You will make the walks fun and enjoyable, taking into consideration a variety of lengths as well as accessible routes for people with different access needs. You will promote the health benefits of walking during the walks with an aim to improve people’s physical and mental health.

You will have experience of leading walks, walking in groups and with people from different backgrounds, including people experiencing poverty and disadvantage in a community setting.

Additionally, you will have excellent communication skills, being able to listen and enable people to feel heard, accepted and understood.  You will have good IT and admin skills and the ability to work independently, using own initiative, respecting confidentiality and boundaries.

The hours of the role are flexible but to be worked with the core working hours, 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday. This is a 9-month fixed term contract.

The walks will be from the following locations: Cornerstone Day Centre/Morning Star M15 6JS, Caritas House M4 4FA and Lalley Centre M40 7RG
