Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) Fund

Aims/priorities:

The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) grant funding tests the impact of high-potential projects aiming to raise the attainment and wider outcomes of 2–19 year-olds, particularly those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The EEF’s funding rounds now focus on particular topics, and projects will be funded within selected themes under these topics.

The second funding round of 2024 will focus on two priority areas, identified as having gaps in the evidence base and with potential to benefit socio-economically disadvantaged pupils.

The Foundation is most interested in applications for this funding round in the following research priority areas:

Writing in Key Stages 1 to 4

  • To support and evaluate programmes aimed at improving the writing outcomes of pupils aged 5 – 16 (Key Stage 1 – 4) in England.

Secondary mathematics

  • Focusing on evaluating programmes with the potential to improve secondary mathematics outcomes for pupils aged 11 – 16 (Key Stages 3 – 4) in England. This theme is co-funded with XTX Markets who aim to support more pupils, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds to progress to degrees, PhDs, and highly skilled careers in mathematics.
