    The Hyde War Memorial Trust (HWMT) was created to maintain the memory of the 710 Men of Hyde who died between 1914 and 1921. The Werneth Low Cenotaph stands on a prominent position within the Trust land, and holds memorial services there twice a year, on the Sundays nearest Peace Day, 28th June 1919, and Armistice Day, 11th November 1918. The Werneth Low Country Park is jointly managed with Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council. HWMT is managed by a Board of Trustees. Werneth Low Country Park is managed by a Joint Management Committee which includes representatives from HWMT and TMBC.
