At Action Together, our purpose is to enable positive social change and promote social justice. One of the ways we do this is by looking at our own ways of doing things to see how we can be a more equitable and inclusive organisation. By taking part in the Disability Confident scheme, we have been able to identify how we can make Action Together a better and more accessible workplace for disabled people.
Disability Confident is a Government scheme which was developed by employers and disabled people, and encourages employers to think differently about disability, taking action to improve how they recruit, retain, and develop disabled people.
We are proud to be Disability Confident Leader
This award is the top level on the government’s Disability Confident scheme, and means that we can now provide verification for other organisations who are applying to become a Disability Confident Leader.
In order to achieve this award we have demonstrated that we have policies and procedures in place which ensure that Action Together is providing a supportive workplace for our disabled staff, and that we are providing leadership for other organisations who wish to do the same. However, achieving Disability Confident Leader status is not the end of the journey – we are committed to growth and improvement and continue to reflect on how we can support all of our employees and members to thrive.
If your organisation is on Level 2 of the scheme (Disability Confident Employer) and you are ready to apply for Disability Confident Leader status, please let your development team know and they will connect you with our Workforce and Inclusion Coordinator.
If you are just beginning your Disability Confident journey, or you are developing your evidence for Level 2 or Level 3, please see the website for help and guidance: Disability Confident: guidance for levels 1, 2 and 3 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
