One Oldham Small Grants Programme Phase 1 awarded groups 2021-2022

Phase 1 awarded applications - Small grants up to £10,000.00 - for formally constituted members of Action Together.

Air Athletics Cheer & Dance£10,000.00The aim of the project is for the children and young people of the club to compete in their first ever National Cheerleading Championships. This grant will allow them to cover the direct costs of preparing the entire team for competition.
All Nations Church£10,000.00The grant helped them partition and install a semi commercial kitchen. This allowed them to offer soup kitchens and meals to vulnerable people, support cook and taste sessions to promote cultural diversity and cooking skills.  
Ancora Project£10,000.00During Dec 2021, they have seen a huge surge in requests for support and are struggling to meet demand. A temporary addition to available staff hours would greatly support their work.
Beulah Community Church£9,967.34The project involved refurbishing the kitchen in the youth centre, which is part of the church building, as it is currently not fit for purpose and in urgent need of an upgrade. The grant enabled them to be able to provide hot nutritious meals and drinks.
Chill Out Zone£10,000.00To support young people around the Medlock vale area to take part in activities including football which will help in their well-being and this will help reducing isolation.
Empowering Equine CIC£9,500.00Project will deliver 100 sessions of equine facilitated learning (EFL) to children/young people aged 5 -18 with special educational needs (SEN) and/or social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs/behavioural issues.
Family Action£9,814.83Support two of Family Action’s FOOD (Food on Our Doorstep) Clubs, based in Oldham - Hollinwood FOOD Club and Fitton Hill FOOD Club.
Funky Fitness & Fun CIC£8,920.00Intensive 10-week programme designed to strengthen the organisation and enable a healthy recovery from COVID. The programme will increase the fitness, flexibility and strength of members and encourage them to work more harmoniously together.
Glodwick Cricket Club£2,220.00The grant awarded enabled to group to upgrade their lighting in the club, but also helped them to buy a defibrillator which is a great benefit and peace of mind to their users to know there's one available in the worst circumstances.
Grace£10,000.00Delivered unique programs of specialised activities for the community, in particular youth. They applied for funding to continue the running of our projects, for the future viability and sustainability of GRACE as an organisation
Holland Close Residents Association£10,000.00Teaching new digital skills to reduce isolation and loneliness through smart technology and access to voice activated tech top connect with the internet, listen to music, video family and GP appointments.
Kaskosan Roma Charitable Company£9,845.00The grant enabled them to hold 10 weekly get-togethers and 1 field trip with the group and open the membership to other Roma women across Oldham. At each session they use art and craft exercises and food as a vehicle to start conversations.
Manchester City Mission£10,000.00The grant will cover core costs, including salaries of Restart and Operation Joy staff who run individual weekly project drop-ins in Oldham and one to one support throughout the week.
Oldham Athletic Community Trust£9,735.00Their overarching goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of a variety of different groups across the borough, whilst for the remaining months of Covid-19 restrictions continue to reinforce the messages of staying safe
Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Club£10,000.00Deliver an 8-week project that aims to improve the mental wellbeing and lifestyles of young people in Oldham who are most at risk from COVID-19.
Oldham Community Radio£10,000.00There are numerous costs involved in operating the broadcast service, these include licence fees (Ofcom, Wireless Telegraphy, PRS, PPL, news agency), technical and infrastructure costs (telecoms and lines, IP and internet connections) staff and volunteer expenses costs.
Oldham Greenhill Community Sports & Recreation Club£9,930.00To deliver a Women’s program which will be a combination of sessions requested by Women during their social gathering event. The programme will run over a 10-week period.
Oldham Inspiring Youth£9,602.80Weekend Warrior will give children a platform to develop essential skills, techniques and knowledge through participation in a wide range of sport.
Outta Skool£10,000.00This grant was awarded to be spent on fixtures/fittings and extension in the back for storage. The Community Café generate income so they can continue to support the community.
Parents of Oldham in Touch (POINT)£10,000.00Without this funding, our opportunities to provide services to meet the early intervention and prevention support requirements would push more families into crisis.
Peaceful Minds CIC£8,140.00Provide a Pilot Multi-lingual Crisis Counselling and befriending service for the South Asian Community. Languages available shall be Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Pahari, Mirpuri/Potwari, Bangla, Pushto, Hindko
Pennine Mencap£9,960.00The grant enabled the group to replace their fire doors and also install roller shutters to protect the new fire news. Also the grant helped them install a toilet cubicle in their gym. These changes have allowed them to be safer and more secure for their service users.
Power2£9,876.00Each young person will receive 10 weekly sessions with a Power2 facilitator, each lasting an hour. Sessions are young-person led and will follow a plan devised by the young person and facilitator together that addresses each young person’s individual COVID-related needs.
Progress Education£10,000.00Provide free skills classes to primary school children who are at risk of underachievement, help develop literacy and numeracy skills. In secondary school children target children who are at risk of exclusion helping develop their maths, English and Science.
Relax With Lucy & CO£10,000.00In response to the current COVID–19 pandemic and the more recent variant Omicron, we would like to ask for funding to build on our existing Ellie’s Gift Project that works to support the mental health and wellbeing of the baby loss community in Oldham.
Rio Ferdinand Foundation£7,590.00Co-deliver a 3-month engagement programme. Engaging 20 young people aged 16-25 from deprived communities across Oldham.
Roc "n" Rolls Holts Community Centre£10,000.00Their plan for the new year is to re-start the ROC Café, to be a safe, fun place where young people can come and build relationships with each other and receive support from positive adult role models.
Rochdale Dawah Centre£6,919.00Organise 6 online zoom sessions (90mins each) to be aimed at Oldham teenagers to discuss Mental Health and Wellbeing topics.
Samurai Ju-Jitsu Academy£3,308.00Provide an extracurricular activity for children 3 times per week. Include exercise, education, discipline and integration. having a range of faiths attending the classes and teach tolerance and understanding, both on and off the mat.
Support and Action Women's Network - SAWN£10,000.00To use the funding to refurbish the coffee morning/drop- in room and office area, within SAWN’S Furniture Hub in Chadderton, Oldham. The space they use is far too small and in dire need of extending.
The Flowhesion Foundation£9,230.00The 2 programmes under the ‘silver lining project’ ensure that there is adequate culturally appropriate help and support for marginalised diasporas in Oldham i.e. Bangladeshi women that are not fluent in English, so that they can access the support their need.
Yuvanis Youth£10,000.00Organise two series of workshops targeting the mental and physical health and wellbeing of young people. Topics of workshops will include the health and wellbeing.
