Migrant Destitution Fund Greater Manchester

Aims/Priorities: The Migrant Destitution Fund is intended to provide a lifeline for people in Greater Manchester who are destitute because they have no leave to remain in the UK.

This could be, for example:

  • Refused asylum seekers, or people whose leave to remain has lapsed.
  • No right to work or access public funds.
  • Not receiving Home Office support (section 98/ section 95 / section 4 asylum support).
  • Not receiving financial support equivalent to MDF from any other organisation.
  • Cash grants are available for people in Greater Manchester who are forced into destitution by their immigration status to help them meet basic needs and promote their wellbeing (applications only accepted by referral partners).

Who can apply: Applications must be made by a referral partner. The current list can be found on the Fund's website.

Community organisation that supports people experiencing destitution can apply to be a partner by emailing Macc at migrantdestitutionfund@macc.org.uk.

Grant amount: Grants of £80 once a month are available.

Application process: Individuals cannot apply directly to the fund as they need to be referred by one of the Fund's referral partners. The organisation will complete the application form with the individual applicant and send it to the Fund.

  • Individuals who are already connected with one of those organisations can ask someone there to refer them to the fund.
  • Individuals who are not already connected with one of these organisations should send an email to  info@migrantdestitution.co.uk, and they will then be signposted to the most suitable organisation that can help them apply to the fund.

Contact MACC for further information on referral partners.

Deadline: None specified.
