Volunteer Mentor

We are looking for people that have supported a child or young person with mental health challenges including anxiety, isolation or school refusal and would like to support other parents or carers going through challenging times. We are offering mentoring training which includes the development of coaching skills, self awareness, safeguarding, active listening and goal setting. Once you have been trained we ask that you can offer an hour a week to support a parent/carer either on the phone, online or in-person. The relationship will be reviewed after 3 months. About the host organisation

Hosted by: Calm Connections Cic
Organisation Profile: At Calm Connections CIC we are parents and carers with lived experience of supporting our children through mental health crisis and we work with other professionals to provide a closed facebook group, online and face to face support groups for families. We run a volunteer programme which involves training mentors (preferably with lived experience) to work with families directly. The mentors are matched to a family that may have a child that is currently experiencing mental health challenges. Volunteers will receive full training and supervision. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop some interpersonal skills and to become a pivotal part of a families journey to a calmer and more connected place.
