Conservation Cleaning Volunteer

The role of a conservation volunteer at Rochdale Town Hall consists of assisting with conservation cleaning tasks. We look after the historic collections and interiors to preserve them for future generations of visitors.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Tasks will include:
Removing dust from wood panelling and stone work in historic rooms
Cleaning fire places in historic rooms
Assisting with checking for any signs of insect pests, mould and helping to monitor environmental conditions
Helping identify any items that are damaged, need attention or are missing within the building
Helping to keep objects and interiors looking their best for people to see and enjoy, by supporting us with our day-to-day cleaning and collections care work
Engaging with visitors about work being undertaken and volunteer contribution to the maintenance of the building

Training:

All volunteers are asked to wear a uniform and name badge.
Volunteers receive free hot and cold drinks in the martlet café and 50% off food and snacks on the day of volunteering.
