As a mentor you will be matched with a famliy to support using the training provided. Training includes sessions on empathetic and active listening, self awareness and safeguarding. Your support will have a huge impact on the families overall wellbeing. After training is complete we will begin the matching process where the mentor lead and the parent lead will match families with mentors that have had similar experiences in order to create a harmonic and enriching relationship. The family may need a suppotive ear, advice or signposting to other services which the mentor will be trained to provide. A mentoring contract will be created and signed by the mentor and mentee in order to agree on when, where and how often support is offered that is suitable for both parties. The contract will offer a source of structure and will be refered to on a regular basis. Mentors will complete wellbeing forms to assess how the mentee is doing and to establish if signposting is needed. Calm Connections hold a monthly meetings which all staff and voluinteers are invited to attend. Monthly supervision is also offered to staff and volunteers working with parents/carers in order to support their wellbeing.
