As a mentor you will be matched with a famliy to support using the training provided. Training includes sessions on empathetic and active listening, self awareness and safeguarding. Your support will have a huge impact on the families overall wellbeing. After training is complete we will begin the matching process where the mentor lead and the parent lead will match families with mentors that have had similar experiences in order to create a harmonic and enriching relationship. The family may need a suppotive ear, advice or signposting to other services which the mentor will be trained to provide. A mentoring contract will be created and signed by the mentor and mentee in order to agree on when, where and how often support is offered that is suitable for both parties. The contract will offer a source of structure and will be refered to on a regular basis. Mentors will complete wellbeing forms to assess how the mentee is doing and to establish if signposting is needed. About the host organisation

Hosted by: Calm Connections Cic
Organisation Profile: At Calm Connections CIC we are parents and carers with lived experience of supporting our children through mental health crisis and we work with other professionals to provide a closed facebook group, online and face to face support groups for families. We run a volunteer programme which involves training mentors (preferably with lived experience) to work with families directly. The mentors are matched to a family that may have a child that is currently experiencing mental health challenges. Volunteers will receive full training and supervision. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop some interpersonal skills and to become a pivotal part of a families journey to a calmer and more connected place.
