Due to the success of last years’ '1917-2017 Passchendaele - Haughton Green Remembers', Eventfull Community Team is planning an outdoor event for all ages to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One - 'TOMMY TOMORROW'.

It takes place on Haughton Green’s village green, The Tommy Todd (M34 7PW) from Friday 5 October - Monday 8 October.

The centrepiece will be a display of over 100 large crosses, some featuring information on local men who served and died during WW1, others featuring poems and information on The Great War, in conjunction with The Royal British Legion’s 'Thank You' campaign.

From Friday 5 October outdoor display boards will allow schools and community groups to present their WW1 related projects. Their work will be on view throughout the duration of the event. The Great War Society-Living History Group will be in attendance as well as local Military Regiments and 'Stories Of Sacrifice' Exhibition courtesy of The British Muslim Heritage Centre.

At 2pm on Sunday 7 October, sees an inter-faith service presided by Rev David Gray, Padre to the Manchester Regiments. This is an opportunity for all us to pay our respects to those of all faiths and cultures who paid the ultimate sacrifice. The service will be augmented by standard-bearers and will culminate in a dove release.

At sundown on each day of the event, candles will be lit by each cross and 'The Last Post' will be played by a musician from one of our local youth groups. Click here to download the event poster.
