Rochdale AFC in the Community are bidding for funding to refurbish five pitches across the Borough of Rochdale, turning them into PlayZones that can be used for football and other ball sports. Rochdale AFC want:

  • People from ethnically diverse communities; people from lower socio-economic groups and women and girls to feel more connected to sports they enjoy.
  • Community groups to take the lead in developing sports and physical activity opportunities in their communities.
  • To hear where community groups are working, and where they think the best place for a refurbished PlayZone is.
  • To hear what support community groups need to be able to deliver sessions from refurbished PlayZones, and how they want to be involved in managing them.

The aim of this bid is to increase physical activity amongst people from ethnically diverse communities; people from lower socio-economic groups, and women and girls. If you deliver health and wellbeing activities to people from these priority communities across the Borough of Rochdale, we would like to invite you to attend an online consultation meeting where we will discuss the barriers to participation for these communities and how to mitigate them; the best place for the new or refurbished PlayZones, and the support that your organisation would like in order to be able to deliver activities from these new facilities, should the bid be successful. We will also discuss how best to engage the people that you work with in this consultation process.

The dates for the consultation meetings are:

  • Heywood - Tuesday 22 November, 9.30am-10.30am
  • Middleton - Wednesday 23 November, 9.30am-10.30am
  • Rochdale North - Wednesday 23 November, 11am-12noon
  • Rochdale South - Wednesday 23 November, 1.30pm-2.30pm
  • Pennines - 25 November, 9.30am-10.30am
