Help us to shape children and adolescent mental health services in Oldham and across Greater Manchester

Several local Healthwatch in Greater Manchester including Healthwatch Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Trafford and Stockport are undertaking a review of young people’s mental health services (ages 4 to 16). The review will explore perspectives of parents and carers whose children have accessed young people’s Mental Health Services over the last 12 months. It will also gather feedback from professionals who have referred young people into Services to understand from them how well the services are meeting the needs of the population.

Across Greater Manchester there are many different terms and names of mental health services for children and young people. The NHS provides some services for children and adolescents who are having difficulties with emotional or behavioural well-being and these services are called CAMHS or Healthy Young Minds. This review covers these services and any other mental health service open to children and young people in Oldham.

As well as the questionnaires which will help us to gain an insight into these services and the experiences of young people and their families, we are holding focus groups within each locality. In Oldham these will be held on the last week of February and will give parents and carers an opportunity to discuss their views and experiences in greater depth.

If you’re a parent or carer, and your child is currently accessing, or recently finished accessing professionals to help them with their mental health and wellbeing in Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Trafford and Stockport click here to complete the survey.

If you are a professional and have referred young people into services or you are a mental health provider and would like to take park in this research, click here to complete the survey.

The deadline for the questionnaires is Thursday 28 February

Initial conversation and meetings regarding this research project have been received well by both local commissioner and providers. The information collected will be published within a report which will be publicly available on Friday 29 March 2019.
