Aims/priorities: The funding aims to encourage the study and appreciation of the arts and sciences and to promote education, with a particular interest in activity in the North West of England, including Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria.

The Foundation's aims and objectives are: 

  • Encouraging and promoting the study, practice and appreciation of the fine arts and the methods and means of their dissemination. 
  • Encouraging and promoting the study and application of the sciences.
  • Promoting and advancing education.
  • Providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare.

Who can apply? Organisations in the North West of England are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to organisations with charitable status but the Foundation occasionally considers applications from notfor-profit organisations

Grant amount: Between £500 and £10,000 are available.

Currently, the average grant awarded is £2,000, Larger grants can be awarded if the project is felt to be particularly innovative and imaginative and have a strong artistic or scientific content. The Foundation is unlikely to award 100% of funding unless there are exceptional circumstances.
