Energy Efficiency Sharematch (with crowdfunding)

Aims/priorities: This sharematch programme will support eligible organisations in England to implement energy efficiency measures to their buildings to reduce their energy usage and carbon footprint.

Who can apply? Applications will be accepted from:

  • Co-operative Societies
  • Community Benefit Societies
  • Charitable Community Benefit Societies

To be eligible to apply, organisations must:

  • Be based and operating in England.
  • Own their buildings or have long (>10 years) tenancies in place. The tenancy should also be as long or longer than the payback period for the share capital.
  • Be seeking investment for energy efficiency measures and use the Crowdfunder platform.

To receive match funding eligible organisations must run a community share issue through the Crowdfunder platform.

Organisations can only access funding from the Energy Efficiency Sharematch once. 

Grant amount: Energy Efficiency Sharematch will provide grant funding to match money raised in community shares.

Most grants awarded will be between £10,000 and £15,000. The minimum grant is £5,000 and the maximum grant is £30,000.

Crowdfunder expect to match money raised through their platform in community shares investments on the basis of 25-33% match of the total raised, up to a maximum of £30,000.

Application process: Applicants should initially complete the expression of interest form on the Crowdfunder website. Eligible projects will be invited to apply.

The fund will run until March 2025.
