    About the host organisation

Hosted by: Haughton Green Healthy Walking Group
    Organisation Profile:

Haughton Green Healthy Walking Group was founded in July 2005 with fewer than 15 members. Today, the Group has approximately 80 members. The Group meets on Thursdays, and offers two walks aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle for more senior walkers (50s+) of varying abilities. Walks are offered to suit two general levels of ability: walks are organized as ‘A’ Walks and ‘B’ Walks. ‘A’ Walks are more physically demanding: they are generally conducted at a brisker pace, and cover hillier terrain and greater distances (generally between 5 and 8 miles) than ‘B’ Walks.
‘B’ Walks are more leisurely and cover less distance (generally between 3 and 5 miles) than ‘A’ Walks.
Additionally, our walks tend to be more locally based during the winter months. All our walks are accessible by public transport, be it bus, train or tram. The Group also arranges a number of social events each year at subsidized prices for members. Recent social events have included: a Weekend Away; a Christmas Buffet Meal & Disco; and day trips by coach.
The annual membership fee of £20 falls on 1 September of each year.
