Aims/priorities: The Charles Plater Trust is an independent charitable organisation that makes grants to a wide range of religious and non-religious organisations, people, and groups, supporting leadership, social action, and applied research projects across England and Wales.
Funding is intended to support the Trust's three main priorities:
- Leadership for Laypeople.
- Social Action.
- Applied Research.
Who can apply? Registered charities with at least three unrelated trustees or directors can apply.
Groups applying to the Small Grants programme must have an annual income of less than £100,000, while groups applying to the Large Grants programme must have an annual income of less than £10 million.
Consortia are also welcome to apply providing there is an appointed lead organisation.
Applicants do not need to be Christian as long as their aims align with the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
Grant amount: There are two funding streams:
- Small grants of £1,000 to £5,000.
- Large grants of £5,001 to £60,000.
Application process: There is an annual Large Grants round in spring and a Small Grants round in autumn.
Large grants are open until 17 March 2023 at 5pm. Decisions are expected in June 2023.
Small grants are also currently closed. More information is expected by 1 September 2023.
Information on future funding will be published when it becomes available.
