Vax Chat Train the Trainer

Within Oldham, we have a really exciting opportunity to extend this training into a train the trainer programme. The training will be a day session to upskill members of the local community organisations in how to lead the vax chat training so that they can go out and further upskill a wider team of community workers.

As part of a project to support the national campaign to increase the uptake of childhood immunisations, we are engaging with local communities in areas of the North West that have the lowest uptake rates, providing Vax Chat training to upskill members from community organisations to have conversations on childhood diseases and vaccinations.

The training is designed to give individuals an understanding of childhood diseases, the key symptoms and risks, and to provide useful techniques for how to approach difficult conversations, such as vaccinations, in an open, non-judgemental way. Within the training we provide useful ways to convey and contextualise statistics to parents and key myth busting facts. The further focus of the training introduces simple but effective behaviour change models which can be used to approach a variety of difficult conversations.
