Winter Warmer Packs Fund - Rochdale Borough

Aims/Priorities:

Thanks to funding from Rochdale Borough Council Public Health, Action Together is offering grants of up to £500 to help support individuals, families and communities currently experiencing hardship as a result of cost of living increases by providing Winter Warmer Packs.

Member organisations will make up and dispense Winter Warmer packs which could consist of household items, ambient food and clothing to be distributed to people across the Rochdale Borough. We will be looking to you for your expertise on your community and what they need to stay safer and warmer this winter.

We will be looking to understand why you will include items in your packs and why they are needed within the community you work with. For example, your offer may focus on:

  • Specific age groups eg. Children, babies, older people
  • Culturally appropriate items
  • Self-care/wellbeing
  • Educational items
  • Keeping families warm in their homes
  • Specific communities of identity eg. Disabled people

A Winter Warmer package is a pack of supplies, some examples might be:

  • Baby Pack (knitted blanket, sleeping bags, warm clothing)
  • Children’s Pack (children’s duvet and duvet covers, warm clothing)
  • Warm Pack (socks, gloves, scarfs, hats)
  • Winter Hot Food and Drink Pack (kettle, thermal mugs, hot drink and soup sachets, tea and coffee)
  • Warm at home Pack (hot water bottle, hand warmers, blankets)
  • Family Pack (warm items for a whole family)
  • Sanitary product packs (tampons, sanitary towels)

Product safety

It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure products for winter warmer packs are compliant with all relevant legislation and that products are purchased from reputable retailers. Where possible, please indicate where you will be purchasing products from in your application. We will also ask you to submit your organisation Health and Safety policy if your application is successful.

For example, for children’s products, look out for the CE mark. This means that the product comes in line with health, safety and environmental protection standards within the European Economic area.
