To provide non-nursing support to our Day Therapy patients including creating a welcoming and comfortable environment, providing companionship and a listening ear.

- Tasks: • Check in with Day Therapies nurse for updates prior to starting duties.
• Welcome patients on arrival to Day Therapies.
• Engage and support patients with therapeutic activities.
• Assist in offering refreshments.
• Take food orders as required.
• To ensure Day Therapies kitchen is kept clean and tidy and stock list maintained.
• To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• To inform Day Therapies Team of any worries or concerns regarding patient wellbeing.
• To report any accidents to clinical staff.
• To ensure highest level of hygiene to avoid cross infection.
Professional boundaries:
• Maintain confidentiality at all times in line with Springhill Hospice policies.
• Relationships formed with service users are to be on a professional basis.
• Contact with patients within hours of volunteering only.
• No befriending of patients and carers on social media.
• No exchanging personal contact details with patient or carers.
• Do not undertake any personal care of patients without consulting clinical staff e.g. Toileting, feeding, walking with and pushing wheelchairs.
• Compliance with Hospice policies and procedures.
• Mandatory training as required and appropriate to the volunteer role. - Interests: Health and wellbeing, Older people
