Royton / Shaw and Crompton,Children’s Centre, Babbling Babies Volunteer Champion (Babbling Babies is a 6 week programme).

Babbling Babies is a 6 week programme including Play, Gesture and Songs aimed at supporting early language and development in babies. We are looking for volunteers, who would like to provide practical support to our project and will be able to commit for at least 12 months for a minimum 3-5 hours a week.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

• Welcoming parents / carers and children to the Babbling Babies session
• Actively encouraging parents / carers to participate in planned activities which will promote the development of speech, language and communication skills in babies 0 – 12 months
• Assisting the Right Start team in the planning, preparation and delivery of Babbling Babies
• Assisting the Right Start team to evaluate the session and record progress made each week
• Building positive relationships with families

Requirements: Relevant qualification or training
Skill and Qualifications Required:

• A good understanding of the importance of speech and language in the development of babies
• Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel welcome and at ease
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Non judgemental
• Actively promote Equality and Diversity
