Greenfield Library Customer Support Volunteer

To help alongside staff and members of the public in a customer support role, providing a high quality of customer service. Be a friendly face within the local hub of the community helping the community in library related tasks.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

1. Meeting and greeting. 2. Offering new customers building orientation. 3. Helping customers with the self-service facilities. 4. Helping customers to find books, using the OPAC catalogue and directing them to the correct shelves. 5. Referring customers who require more detailed assistance to the Library Assistant. 6. Encouraging a sense of community with the library as a hub for the community. 7. Supporting events specific to the Greenfield Library.

Skill and Qualifications Required:

1. Have a basic understanding of how the Library Service operates. 2. Good communication skills with staff, other volunteers and members of the public. 3. Have a patient and approachable manner. 4. A reliable, confident and responsible approach. 5. Effective interpersonal skills. 6. Have the ability to cope with the duties and responsibilities of the role and the associated environment, including an understanding of Health and Safety. 7. A basic understanding of IT. 8. Able to follow guidelines/instructions. 9. Willing to acquire new knowledge and skills. 10. Interested in promoting reading and learning.
