Huge congratulations, and a very well-deserved commendation went to the amazing team at Syke Community Base last week as they were awarded our Quality in Action Award, excelling in every category and demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding, quality assurance and continued improvement.
Syke Community Base are one of eight Community Centres in Rochdale Borough who form the Community Base Network, and who are all working towards achieving this award. It is great news that we now have another centre who have achieved the award, following in the footsteps of Deeplish and Burnside Community Centres who have already been awarded QiAA status.
Since it's beginnings in 2002, when it evolved from 'The Friends of Syke Pond', Syke Community Base has gone from strength to strength to be the central hub of the community it is today. Hear the story of their inspiring, and hard-fought journey to secure funding, battle to bring the community together and deliver a fantastic range of groups, activities and support services so successfully: www.sykecommunitybase.com/about-us

"The process was a really great way of ensuring our organisation had everything in place to be an effective resource for our community, and gave both our staff and the board of Trustees a boost of confidence knowing we work within expected processes and guidelines of legal and funding bodies.
Action Together were a brilliant support, providing a helping hand throughout and we couldn't have asked for a better guide."

Quality in Action Award
Our Quality in Action Award is a recognised framework for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations working across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside to prove their impact. The award recognises outstanding commitment to safeguarding, quality assurance and continuous improvement and is an independent, local seal of approval which publicly demonstrates to local commissioners, funders, beneficiaries and other stakeholders that your organisation delivers quality activities and services.
How can my organisation apply for the Quality in Action Award?
You'll work alongside one of our dedicated Development Officers to meet criteria that ensures your organisation has the right things in place, with practical advice, resources and support to help you develop the policies and procedures that are right for you. The QiAA is free and open to groups of any size.
