Silver Cord have been providing a befriending service for isolated older and vulnerable people since 2017. They are passionate about the role of the local church and supporting a response to loneliness. The Charity have recently branched out on their own and wanted to ensure that they had everything in place in order to run their service effectively.
- Silver Cord operate across most of Tameside and Glossop. This year they have expanded the service to Ancoats and are now looking to duplicate in other areas. They match trained and DBS checked volunteer befrienders from local churches with those who are isolated or lonely.
- Silver Cord exists to cherish the lonely and champion the role and place of older people in society. The ethos of Silver Cord is to place as much value on the latter years of life as society places on the former years and to encourage a sense of worth, belonging and hope in the individual.

'We are thrilled to have completed the Quality In Action Award with Action Together. It's been so helpful to think through all the different areas covered and be sure we are operating within best practise. It's definitely given us more confidence as we look to expanding the work of the charity. Thank you so much to Dawn Acton who held our hand though the process and gave and sought advice throughout!'
