Share your experiences of NHS 111

An important new survey has been developed to try to better understand the thoughts and experiences of Oldham’s use of NHS 111.

NHS Oldham Integrated Care Partnership has worked with Healthwatch Oldham to create the online survey to take a closer look at how and why the public is using the service, the outcomes of this use, and the personal experiences of those that have used it.

All the information gathered through the survey will be kept anonymous meaning no one has to provide their name or address and will be used to help identify better ways that the NHS can help patients understand NHS 111 and its benefits.

Alongside the online survey, Healthwatch Oldham need to do further work to understand perceptions and experiences of the 111 service, particularly amongst groups who may be under or poorly served and as part of this they are looking to undertake a number of focus groups.

Focus Groups

The information provided will be anonymous and will be used to help identify potential ways the NHS can communicate this service with its patients and its benefits to those that require it.

In the focus groups, they will also seek case studies or examples of residents' experiences to see how 111 has fit into residents' healthcare journey - this could shape some communications campaigns and make them relatable and personable to Oldham.

Between July and September 2023, they’re looking to arrange focus groups with members of the public, who have or haven’t used the NHS 111 service. Based on data, they’re particularly interested in speaking to people who identify as or represent the following:

  • Older people (those aged 65 and over)
  • Parents
  • Those aged 25 – 29
  • People with learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions
  • Ethnic minority communities

They have stated that they would also welcome any opportunities for focus groups even if they don’t fit within the above categories.

They will be able to compensate reasonable travel expenses for attendees who take part in the focus group.

Interpreters can be sourced where required, and children are welcome to attend alongside their parents.
