Scout Bee Badge Raised over £64,000

Posted: 2 March 2018

In response to 6th Ashton Assistant Scout leader, Darah Burke, and his family getting injured at the Manchester Arena attack in Manchester, 6th Ashton Broadoak Explorer Scout Leader, Doug Pepper, came up with the idea of a bee badge for Scouts. The bee badge represents Manchester's hive of activity during the industrial revolution. The Scout Counties of Greater Manchester's Scout Bee badge has sold all over the world to raise a staggering £64,170.41. Every penny of the proceeds will be donated towards creating a permanent and lasting memorial in Manchester, not only to remember the 22 people who sadly lost their lives but as a symbol of strength and unity of a city, a nation and in this case, the entire world.
