Aims/priorities: An opportunity has arisen at Rochdale Borough Council within the Public Health Team for an individual, an organisation, or collaboration to develop a programme of training and development to enhance the behavioural science expertise of Rochdale council and partners.
We envisage a multi-phased approach to developing our behavioural science expertise.
Phase 1
A shorter training course for a wide range of stakeholders within and outside of Rochdale’s Public Health Team. These sessions should provide a basic understanding of behavioural science, including local examples and learning. It should also help to identify public health team members who might be interested in and benefit from attending a more in-depth behavioural science training.
Phase 2
In this phase, we envisage a more in-depth multi day training course for stakeholders who are interested in, and would benefit from, a more in-depth understanding of how to use behavioral insights in practice. The aim is to establish a behaviour change ‘expert’ hub. It should also be used as a platform to co-create ideas for behavioural science projects to help Rochdale borough reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Phase 3
The final phase of the training should involve selecting one or two ideas of those co-created during Phase 2 and collaborating on their implementation in Rochdale.
Who can apply? The successful bidder will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised with good project management skills; being able to deliver specific projects within a designated time frame, resolving any project issues and recommending solutions to the project group. We will be happy to accept joint bids from providers where there is clear evidence that the project will benefit from joint working.
The successful bidder will have experience of developing and delivering behavioural science capacity building programmes. They will also have experience of undertaking behavioural science projects “on the ground”. They will be willing and able to work with us collaboratively to develop a programme that is specifically tailored to Rochdale borough, our stakeholders and our residents.
The successful bidder will demonstrate excellent attention to detail and have experience of working to deadlines with minimal supervision.
