Moving Forward Together: Action Project

Aims/priorities:

As part of an exciting relationship, Youth Alliance GM are working with Street Games to explore new opportunities to empower the alliance through physical activity.

Youth Alliance GM is an informal partnership of over 140 organisations and groups supporting children and young people across Greater Manchester, drawn from local VCS sector, public sector youth services, housing associations and national charities.

StreetGames is the leading national charity dedicated to transforming the lives of young people growing up in underserved communities, through the power of sport. StreetGames will be delivering a 3-phase approach on behalf of the alliance, to broaden the skillset and capacity of member organisations, improving access to physical activity and movement. This partnership, funded through GM Moving, aims to extend those benefits to our alliance, to alleviate issues and remove barriers faced by those wishing to engage in physical activity and movement.

As part of this Phase in the Project, organisations can apply for up to £1,000 to enable young people (that they are working with) to give their time in order to support more people within their community to access sport, physical activity and movement.

New volunteering opportunities will therefore be created with a focus on movement and health.

Examples may include the creation of a 5-a-side league/tournament, family fun day, or it could be a set of weekly sessions or just a one-off event.

Training can also be applied for by organisations for staff and/or young people – this could be included within an application or it could be as a separate bid.

Themes that would especially be supported include:

•  LGBTQ+ community

•  Family engagement events/projects

•  Women & Girls

•  Diverse ethnicity

Who can apply:

Organisations in the Rochdale Borough

Grant amount: Up to £1000

Application process:

There are no limits around the number of applications organisations can apply for, as long as they are for different young people working on a different project.  Please note that there is only a small amount of funding to cover all of the projects so we cannot guarantee that there will be funding for all applications.
