Local funding opportunities

At Action Together we know that grant funding is the lifeblood of many of our members and we continue to work with our partners and local businesses to identify, promote and distribute grants that support community action and raise funds ourselves to support local good causes. 

These include:


  • Positive Steps Early Help Grant -  Positive Steps Early Help Grant aims to improve families’ physical, social, and emotional well-being, so that they do not need ongoing support from crisis and specialist services. Funding of up to £5000 is available for groups and organisations based or working in the Oldham Borough and whos beneficiaries are Oldham Borough residents.
  • Kerrching Youth Opportunities Fund - Kerrching – Youth Opportunity Fund is a pot of money that is specifically for young people.  The fund aims to provide opportunities for young people in their leisure time that will improve their health and wellbeing and enable young people to lead healthy lifestyles.
  • Rapid ROCA - First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) and partners are releasing more funding for Rapid ROCA looking for projects that ‘Most benefit’ the community. Funding of up to £500 is available to community groups with an annual income of less than 20k based in Oldham. CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS
  • Social Action Fund - Oldham Cares has launched the Social Action Fund to reduce social isolation and loneliness in Oldham. Oldham Cares’ Thriving Communities programme has made £850,000 available to fund two to four projects over a three-year period that will help people to become more socially connected.  CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS
  • Growing Oldham Feeding Ambition small investments up to £500 are available from the Food Enterprise Fund. to community-led social enterprise projects and ideas that help to create a thriving, sustainable and local food economy in Oldham. 
  • Action Oldham funding is available for organisations based or working within the Oldham Borough.   The panel are especially interested in supporting organisations carrying out new activities / projects / initiatives in the area or organisations that wish to experiment with new ideas and new approaches to familiar problems.  Contact our development team to find out when the next round of grants will be opened.
  • We work with our local Age UK’s to deliver the lottery funded program, Ambition for Ageing, which aims to reduce social isolation in the over 50’s population in particular wards, through targeted asset based community development (ABCD) approaches. 
  • Rotary Club of Chadderton & Failsworth Community Cash Award is looking to fund inspiring ideas/actions which are about people and communities coming together to change.  Groups across the Oldham borough can apply for up to £1,000.
  • “Funded with Food” is a crowdfunding event with a difference, aimed at local people with local ideas and funded by the community itself it awards at least £250 in cash to one brilliant idea at each month.
  • Big Local Treasure is asking for new ideas in the Clarksfield, Littlemoor and Greenacres areas and is inviting poeple from those areas to decide which projects are going to bring the communities together.


  • Connecting You Seed Fund With a focus on improving health and wellbeing in the broadest sense, the Connecting You Seed Funding aims to make a difference right down at street level within our communities in the Rochdale Borough. Either £500 or £2,000.


  • Tameside 4 Good is distributed to good causes in Tameside to help improve the quality of life for family, friends and neighbours that live in the borough. Grants of up to £3,000 are available to community organisations and individuals under 25 can apply for up to £500. CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS

  • Local people and local community, voluntary and faith organisations in Tameside are invited to apply for funding to deliver projects that improve the outcomes for children 0-5 to enable them to be ‘school ready’ and to encourage parents to be more active in their communities to support their peers and for children and young people 5-25 to enable them to lead and sustain healthier, safe and happier lives.                                       Tameside Children and Young Peoples Small Grants Scheme (5 - 25 years old).

  • Tameside's Community Wellbeing Investment Programme aims to support people to improve their wellbeing and reduce pressure on NHS and social care services.  To deliver all this we need to invest in building the capacity of local groups and their activities and are interested in investing in ideas that will make a difference.  Investments range from £50 to £25,000 and are available to Tameside VCFSE groups that are members of Action Together (becoming a member is simple, free and support is available to help you - click here to become a member).  
  • Community Wellbeing Alliance Micro Grants of up to £1000 are available to support Tameside & Glossop based VCFSE groups that want to develop engagement activities that promote Community Wellbeing,

Action Together’s team of development officers have a wealth of experience that could help you find and secure funding.  This includes:

  • Identifying and applying for appropriate funding
  • Developing a fundraising strategy
  • Planning and costing projects
  • Fundraising events and ideas
  • Monitoring and evaluating your project and reporting to funders
  • Developing the knowledge and skills of your management committee, trustee board, staff and volunteers
  • Ensuring you have appropriate systems and structures in place to manage your grants and organisation effectively
