Global Grooves

A Mossley-based charity is appealing to the public’s help after more than 15 years worth of work, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, was destroyed in the Ray Mill fire over the weekend.

Global Grooves is one of the UK’s leading Carnival arts organisations, bringing inspirational carnival practice from around the world into communities across the UK.

To celebrate the Foundation’s anniversary and the vital role of volunteers and community charities, we are excited to launch a additional grants scheme that will be open to applications from 5th January to 30th June 2018 exclusively – the Weston Anniversary Fund.We understand that communities need good facilities and that raising funds takes time and effort.  For this reason our Weston Anniversary Fund will award grants up to £150,000 to provide new or improve existing community facilities.

Grants are available for charitable institutions and organisations which help young people under the age of 21 years who are in need, hardship and distress and who live within 50 miles of Preston. 

Applications submitted for grants of £500 and over will be considered by the Trustees at meetings held every two months, unless deemed to be urgent by the Trustees.  Applications submitted for grants of under £500 will be considered by the Trustees within 4 weeks of receipt.  Each request for a grant must be made on an official application form.


The North West Legal Support Trust

Funding is available to charities in North West England so that they can provide free legal advice to members of the public who would otherwise be disadvantaged and for charitable work that promotes access to justice in the North West of England.

Grants of between £250 and £3,000 are available. In exceptional cases a grant of up to £5,000 may be considered.

Priority will be given to not-for-profit activities that enable the provision of free legal advice to members of the public who would otherwise be disadvantaged. Examples include:
