funding update

Food poverty alliances that are registered with Food Power are eligible to apply for financial support. We ask all applicants to try to secure cash and/or in kind-match funding which we hope encourages partners to support their local alliance.

Over the course of the four year programme we will offer different rounds of financial support for alliance development, evaluation, engaging experts by experience and the annual theme. Details are provided below when these rounds are open for applications or review our key dates to preview future rounds. All applications must be submitted through the Food Power members' area.

  • Annual theme financial support: Healthy Start

Our 2018-2019 theme will focus on Healthy Start vouchers for fruit, vegetables and milk and their ability to improve people’s access to healthy food. Financial support of up to £5,000 will be for alliances to implement a piece of work from their own food poverty action plan (or similar) that focuses in this area. A core part of our programme is about sharing and learning among alliances, so documenting activities for others to learn from will be a key part of these projects.

We are looking to support alliances that focus on increasing uptake among households who are eligible for Healthy Start but not currently using the vouchers. Please read the full guidelines before submitting your application and contact Maddie Guerlain for any questions.

  • Engaging experts by experience financial support

We believe those who have faced the adversities of food poverty at the grassroots have expertise which can help food alliances to flourish. By listening to the insights of people who know what works and doesn’t work in their everyday lives, food poverty alliances can better develop long-term, sustainable solutions to food poverty.

Financial support up to £5,000 is available for food poverty alliances to run projects focused on empowering experts by experience to be involved in strategic alliance development and creating food poverty action plans. Financial support could be spent on a range of activities including staff time, resources, design and delivery of activity that explores different tools for community participation, voice and empowerment. This list is not exhaustive so please contact Ben Pearson for questions or advice about applying.
