Faiths Tackling Isolation!
Join us to celebrate the work that Tameside faith groups provide to alleviate social isolation across the Borough. This is your opportunity to meet other faith organisations to share what we do, and to learn from each other. There will be practical workshops, inspiring speakers and networking opportunities. Registration with tea/coffee is at 9:30.
Basic Bid writing – Nadine Ashworth (Action Together):
Nadine will guide you through the basics of applying for funding, giving you hints and tips on how to be successful when you are writing funding bids!
Become a Dementia Friend – Ruth Madden (Action Together):
A Dementia Friend is somebody that learns about dementia so they can help their community. This workshop will help you to feel more confident and comfortable in how you work with people who may be affected by dementia, when you are running your faith group or activity.
Reflections on Isolation – Andrew and Biddy Dawson (Reflections) and Jean Hurlston (Ashton Sixth Form College):
Reflections is a group of people who get together every couple of months to discuss what their faith means to them and how they approach life. The group looks at what Faiths share in common and seeks to understand differences. This discussion session will look at how faiths respond to loneliness and isolation.
Places of Welcome – (Lily Axworthy and Kath Leigh (Places of Welcome):
Are you considering setting up a Place of Welcome? Lily and Kath will guide through you through the ethos, history and the benefits of Places of Welcome as well as explaining the set-up process
A buffet lunch will be provided. If you have any dietary requirements, please inform us.
