On Thursday 4 April 2019, at Action Together’s third AGM its members unanimously voted to make an amendment to the charity’s constitution to include Rochdale as an area of benefit in Action Together’s charitable objects.

After receiving the news in January that Action Together had been successful in a competitive bid to deliver infrastructure services to community, voluntary, faith and social enterprise organisations in Rochdale, the charity decided it wanted to make it official and not only deliver work across the borough but also to show its long term commitment by changing its charities objects.

Liz Windsor-Welsh, Action Together’s Chief Executive, commented: “Extending our support to Rochdale is something our trustees fully explored. We recognise the similarities of the borough and think we can help to strengthen the connections between the voluntary, community, faith sector and other public and private bodies that work in the borough. It is fantastic to know our members unanimously agreed to extend our charitable objects to include the borough of Rochdale.

We believe that three localities is the optimal size for Action Together and we are not seeking to work in other boroughs. We remain committed to working with our colleagues across 10GM to highlight the need for good local infrastructure in every place.”

Action Together has reorganised its teams to create a dedicated team for each area. One that only works in Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside respectively. Each team is led by a strategic lead, supported by the charity’s central and leadership teams.

Roger Farnworth, Action Together’s Chair, added: “We think reorganising our teams is an important change to make now, and hope that our members and partners see that we have designed our structure in a way that ensures we continue to stay locally focussed and prioritise our local connections and relationships. We stay committed to having a local office in each borough and none of the support we offer or ways to contact us have changed. There haven’t been any reduction in the size of the teams working in Oldham and Tameside.”

The charity will have a team of five for Rochdale. The team will include a strategic locality lead Rochdale, partnerships coordinator, development and volunteer coordinator, volunteer support officer and grant and general administration assistant. Action Together’s full Rochdale team will be in place by June 2019 and will be based at 104 – 106 Drake Street, Rochdale, OL16 1PQ.
