Willow Wood - new look, new team

Posted: 29 August 2017

With the opening of the new Hyde retail unit at 27 Market Place, Hyde, Willow Wood is also unveiling a new look. The new logo is fresh, bright and appealing, and sets the tone for the shop which has been refitted to a high standard and has a clean and modern interior.

This contemporary finish will soon be replicated in all eight of Willow Wood’s shops, which are conveniently located in town centres throughout Tameside and in Glossop. To find your nearest one just go to www.willowwood.info for full address details.

The new up-to-the-minute style reflects the changes that are taking place at Willow Wood. Head of Income Generation & Marketing, Anthony Lord, said: “We’ve got some really exciting plans for the future, and the new logo is the first visible sign of the changes. We’re conscious that raising £2.3million annually is a huge task but we have a great new team either in post already or due to start with us shortly.  I’m more than confident that they will rise to the challenge.”

Both Anthony and Community & Events Officer, Chris Hayden, have been at Willow Wood for some months now, and Anthony continued: “Chris is working on some terrific new events to be announced shortly, and he has just been joined in the team by Elaine McConnell, who has a very strong background in Hospice fundraising. Again, she is bringing new ideas to the table and has really hit the ground running. I can promise you though, that our best-loved events such as the Light Up A Life services will continue.”

There will be a new face heading up the retail division as well when Sharon Smith joins the team as Retail Operations Manager. Anthony said: “She’s worked in retail for many years and I’m really looking forward to her input. Our shops are a very important part of our income generation, bringing in over £700,000 and we’re looking forward to increasing our market share.”

The Income Generation team is completed by Lottery Manager Diane Austin-Hughes, and PR, Communications & Marketing Officer Lynn Fothergill who, as Anthony said: “They’ve both been in post for around a year now, and have already proved their value.  We mustn’t forget the other three other office-based members of the team, Lottery Assistant Maureen Chisnall, Database & Administration Supervisor Laura Pritchard and Administrative Assistant Rachel Kelley. We just couldn’t do without their support and enthusiasm – and we’re all eager to make a real contribution to the future of Willow Wood.”
