Reading Group Volunteer ( available at all Rochdale Library locations)

We hold regular reading groups at some of our libraries where adults meet to discuss books. Libraries are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of duties. In return, we can offer you the chance to make a positive difference in your local community. Volunteering can also give you the practical experience and training you'll need to become more desirable to employers.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

As a reading group volunteer, you'll mostly:

Assist in preparing and clearing up after the reading group
Welcome participants
Facilitate sessions and encourage participation
Work with the group to decide on future books to read
Liaise with staff to obtain enough copies of the chosen titles

Organisation Profile: We have 17 local libraries in the area, as a library we have lots of events and activities taking place in our libraries, including IT training, reading and poetry groups and writing workshops. All our libraries have accessible computers free to use, and we offer a doorstep library service to people with certain needs.
