Independent Visitor - Tameside

Are you interested in volunteering to support a Tameside Looked After Child aged 8 - 18 years? This role can make a huge difference to a child’s life. ‘Looked-after’ children are those that are offered accommodation within placement or Foster family as the result of a Care Order. The Looked-after Children service is responsible for children who cannot – for whatever reason – live with their birth families.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Independent Visitors are volunteers who are trained to support Looked after Children by:
• Meeting monthly with an allowance for activity and travel expenses covered.
• Keeping in contact in between visits e.g. by phone, e mail or text to build a relationship.
• Plan with a young person activities that they want to participate and engage with.
• Have fun and spend enjoyable times together

Skill and Qualifications Required:

Training will be provided.
