Utilita Giving – One Call, That’s All

Aims/priorities: The funding is to run a pilot to test a range of interventions and engagement approaches designed to support people out of fuel and food poverty long term.

The objectives are to:

  • Identify, target and retain people’s engagement in longer term personalised support until they are out of fuel and food poverty indefinitely.
  • Provide a single point of access and single point of contact for every client.
  • Enable people to only tell their story once.
  • Provide a comprehensive and holistic needs-assessment and triage.
  • Foster an approach which is personable and builds trust, resilience and enhances dignity for all.
  • Create a seamless and integrated personalised support journey (financial, material aid, casework, advocacy and brokerage).
  • Forge collaborative place-based partnerships with the local voluntary organisations who will operate like “one team around the person/household.”
  • Actively involve beneficiaries/partners in experimenting and learning.
  • Create a seamless and integrated referral pathway for referrals in and out of the service.
  • Collaborate with the learning partner to help to develop “next best practice” solutions to fuel and food poverty.

The pilot will need to commence by 2 September 2024 and complete by 31 August 2026.

Who can apply? Applications will be accepted from organisations who are registered with the Charity Commission and/or Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.

Applications can be made by partnerships. A single provider and/or lead provider will be required to work in close collaboration with Utilita Giving, Utilita Energy Limited and its independent learning partner.

To be eligible, applicants must have a proven track record in the provision of personalised support to vulnerable people in fuel and food poverty and evidence that they can fulfil the objectives.

Grant amount: A total of up to £2 million (£1 million per year) is available to cover a two-year period, commencing 2 September 2024.

Application process: There is a two stage application process:

  • The first stage is to submit an Expression of Interest by email to Helen Boardman by the deadline of 30 April 2024 (17:00).
