Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund

Aims/priorities: The fund aims to support projects which prevent, reuse, or recycle household waste, and also reduce contamination, promote sustainable use of waste and resources, and generate wider social benefits for local communities. 

Who can apply? Applications are welcome from Community and Voluntary Sector organisations, including:

  • Registered charities.
  • Not-for-profit organisations.
  • Community, neighbourhood or voluntary groups.
  • Faith groups delivering community work.
  • Schools, colleges or universities.

Applicants must provide:

  • A recent bank statement, dated within the last three months, showing the organisation's name, address, bank account number and sort code.
  • A copy of their constitution.
  • A project activities spreadsheet. 
  • A project budget spreadsheet. 
  • An image to represent the project.

Organisations must be based in one or more of the following nine Greater Manchester council areas; Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, and Trafford (excluding Wigan).

Projects that have received funding in any of the previous years cannot apply again for 2024-25.

Grant amount: A total of £220,000 is available in 2024, split into two awards:

  • Community Grants: - For projects based in one district area only (i.e., Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford). Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are available per project.
  • Innovation and Regional Grants - For innovative City Region-wide projects (i.e., projects working across all nine Districts of the GMCA area). Awards will be for a maximum of £20,000 per project.

Application process: Applicants will be notified of any decisions made by the end of July or early August 2024.
