Wouldn’t you love to find yourself picnicking with your family and friends, whilst listening to some funky music? Click here to download the pot luck event poster.

On Sunday, 16 July, 1-4pm Operation Farm present The Potluck Festival, in Hyde Park Community Orchard. It will evoke nostalgic memories of coming together and celebrating our local heritage and diversity. Basically, the idea is to get together as one big party to make a memorable summer’s day. There are so many talented and diverse people in Tameside and if we bring these skills together, we’re sure to have an #EPIC event!

Everyone is encouraged to bring their favourite dish, their home-grown veggies, their art & talent to the party. Potluck, in this case, not only means food, but your creativity as well. We welcome and celebrate your ideas for craft, music, nostalgic games and nature related activities.

Operation Farm is bringing together a range of local musicians and artists to create a funky vibe.

The event is about sharing a dish that evokes strong memories of your childhood with a recipe that you treasure; it could be your Gran’s home-baked cake where the smell takes you back to being the height of her apron, your Aunt’s chutney, where the vinegary smell used to make your eyes sting, the crispy crunch as you bite into your Mum's bujia or your own home-made lemonade on a hot summer’s day – whilst we want to know if the dish you are sharing is suitable for all diets - vegetarian, contains nuts etc… please also write the story, write the recipe, tell us how this dish makes you feel.

Please be sure to bring plenty of food to share and your own drinks.

There will be no food stalls at the event and no alcohol is permitted

Hopefully the summer harvest will be kind and our gardens will be laden with broad beans, beetroot, courgettes, radish, spring onions, strawberries and gooseberries; Operation Farm is encouraging you to bring your gluts to swap and share at our Haggle ‘n’ Barter stall led by our community gardeners, where you can find out about how to get involved in the Operation Farm community allotment and orchard.

Operation Farm crafters and grafters are putting on a range of creative, natural and nostalgic activities for all the family.

Local groups including Hyde Community Action and The Grafton Centre will be helping Operation Farm to put on a diverse and memorable event. If your local community group could help too, then please get in touch with Operation Farm.

Why is it important to RSVP via potluckfestival.eventbrite.co.uk? Due to the size of the venue, parking issues, event licence and insurance this event has a limited number of tickets available. By registering through potluckfestival.eventbrite.co.uk you guarantee you and your guests attendance at the festival. There will be a master list at the food table with your names and wristbands will be issued for the Potluck Food Table. As this is an open park, we are not excluding the public from the event; the wristbands just ensure that those who have brought food, get food!

Responding via Facebook and Twitter doesn’t count, but we do encourage you to use these sites to build momentum about the event
