• Barnardo's Tameside and Salford Independent Visitors Service

    Barnardo's Tameside Service supports a team of Independent Visitors, who will be trained, matched with and befriend young people in care. To befriend and visit individual children and young people in care, who have infrequent or no contact and communication with their parents. delivers issue based advocacy, for children in care, care leavers and some young people subject to Child Protection Plans or child in Need Plans. It also to complete missing from home return interviews with children who run away or go missing from home or care and to provide information, advice and support to looked after children, children on a child protection/child in need plan, in order to make their views known to people making decisions about their care. The service will enable children to speak for themselves or represent their views depending on the preferences of the child.

We also have the young parent service based at Gabriel Court, this is an accommodation and support service for young women aged 16-21 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, who are either pregnant or have a young baby under 12 months at referral.
