• SEND Mediation and Disagreement Resolution

The SEND Code of practice 0-25 requires all local authorities to make SEND Meditation and Disagreement Resolution Services (DRS) available to parents and young people. Whilst local authorities commission this service, it must be independent of the local authority. This means no-one directly employed by the local authority can provide Mediation and DRS services. The SEND code of practice requires parents, carers and young people to consider mediation before making a claim to the First Tier SEND Tribunal. Oldham Local Authority has commissioned POINT to deliver Mediation and DRS services in Oldham and all Mediation and DRS meetings are undertaken by a mediator who has undertaken Civil Mediation Council accredited training.
