About the host organisation
Hosted by: Ashton Martial ArtsOrganisation Profile:We deliver Chinese Kick boxing lessons twice per week, Tuesdays/Thursdays, involving 2 ability classes for children aged 5-16 and young people aged 16+. Unlike many other martial arts groups, we aim to reduce barriers to families- we are low cost (£1.50, first session is free), we provide all equipment, children wear normal sports clothing and our main emphasis is on fitness, self-defence and self-discipline (not expensive gradings). However, we are also much more than this. Parents/carers of the younger children are welcome to stay. We welcome and support the families as a whole, breaking down social isolation in this diverse community. We are run by local volunteers and encourage our young people to volunteer at the sessions too- leading small groups, helping with refreshments and booking members in. We are one big Martial Arts Family.
